Highly conservative year-on-year capacity increases against slight increases in overall passenger traffic to 8.2 million passengers, has pushed American Airlines’ system-wide load fact up to 87.7%. The marginal 0.7 points increase was a product of a 1.7% rise in passenger traffic and a capacity increase of 0.9%. International traffic increased by 5.2% relative to last July on a capacity increase of 3.0%, resulting in an increase in international load factor of 1.8 points versus the same period last year. Trans-pacific traffic demand was bullish in July, with a traffic increase of 22.7%. However load factors dropped by 3.7 points to 82.5% due to a slightly overzealous capacity increase of 28.3%.
