Aeroméxico has revealed plans to introduce a chauffeur-drive service for Business Class passengers travelling its London Heathrow to Mexico City route.
A fleet of Mercedes vehicles will transfer passengers to and from the airport in both cities, Aeroméxico’s regional sales director Europe & Asia Rocio Blazquez revealed in an exclusive interview with Travel Daily UK during this week’s World Travel Market (WTM) in London.
“The chauffeur service will start next week, offering our Business Class customers another premium service to complete their Aeroméxico experience,” she said. “It will also improve our competitiveness in the marketplace as far as corporate travellers are concerned.”
The introduction of the chauffeur transfer service will also coincide with the Mexican carrier’s re-launch of its Club Premier Corporate loyalty programme for business passengers.
Details of the revamped frequent flyer programme will be revealed next week, but Blazquez revealed that under the programme, five return trips between London and Mexico City would deem passengers eligible for a free flight.
Blazquez said the new chauffeur service and revamped loyalty programme would further cement Aeroméxico’s status as the preferred carrier for business passengers travelling from London to Mexico and further afield to North and Latin America.
The carrier currently serves 46 destinations across Mexico, 16 in the US, 15 in Latin America and three in Canada via its Mexico City hub.
“Aeroméxico is very popular with corporate travellers from the UK and repeat business on the route is 45% because we attract a lot of frequent flyers,” she said.
“Our network [across Mexico and the Americas] is important because 60% of passengers flying from the UK transit at Mexico City and fly to onward destinations [with Aeroméxico].”
Aeroméxico now operates the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner between London and Mexico City – a route it launched in December 2012 with three weekly flights.
In 2015 the carrier has boosted capacity on the route by 60% having added a fourth frequency in April and a fifth frequency in May.
“This has resulted in an increase in load factors from 75% to more than 80%,” revealed Blazquez.
She said business travellers appreciated the timing of the service, which leaves London at night, allowing time-poor business guests to eat their evening meal and then sleep for the duration of the flight.
The quality of Aeroméxico’s on-board service was another key selling point, Blazquez added.
Future plans could include rolling out the larger next-generation Dreamliner (the Dash 9 version) on the London-Mexico City route in order to further boost capacity, she revealed.
