Air Astana has started revamping its long-haul fleet with the addition of two new Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
The new wide-body aircraft, which were ordered together with three Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners in February 2012, touched down in Kazakhstan this week, and will be joined by a third new B767 in 2014. The airline’s Dreamliners will be delivered between 2017 and 2019.
“The arrival of the new Boeing 767s marks another major step in the renewal of the Air Astana fleet, following the delivery of latest generation Airbus and Embraer types over the past two years,” said Peter Foster, president of Air Astana.
“With the average age of the fleet now being only six years, Air Astana can rightly claim to operate one of the youngest fleets in the world.”
The new B767-300ERs come equipped with 223 seats, including 30 new flat-bed seats in business class and 193 seats in economy. All passengers will have access to personal in-flight entertainment units.
The new aircraft will be used to operate international services to destinations including Amsterdam, Bangkok, Beijing, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, as well as on high-volume domestic trunk routes.
