Air Astana launches Hong Kong flights
Kazakhstan and Hong Kong have been directly connected for the first time, following the launch of a new service by Air Astana.
The Kazakh national carrier commenced flights from Almaty to Hong Kong today (28 August 2012), and will now operate twice weekly flights between the two cities, on Tuesdays and Fridays. All flights will use a two-class Boeing 757 aircraft configured with 16 seats in business class and 150 in economy.
The flights were made feasible following a recent agreement to allow mutual visa-free travel between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong.
“Air Astana is in the midst of its 10th anniversary celebrations and I’m delighted to add this pioneering direct service to Hong Kong from Central Asia to our achievements this year,” said Air Astana’s President, Peter Foster. “Alpine Almaty and dynamic Hong Kong are both exciting destinations and with visa free travel for HKSAR/Kazakhstan passport holders, I’m confident about strong traffic growth amongst both business and leisure travellers.”
