Myanmar’s Air Bagan has signed its first deal with a major GDS, offering its fares and inventory to travel agents via Amadeus.
In a landmark deal, travel agents across the world will now be able to access Air Bagan’s domestic schedules via the GDS. Amadeus becomes the first GDS to offer the sale of domestic flights in Myanmar.
“As an entrepreneurial airline with a vision to become one of the best airlines in Asia, technology is crucial to our growth strategy, as well as supporting tourism and opportunities for travel providers in Myanmar,” said Sao Thanda Noi, deputy managing director of Air Bagan.
“The agreement will allow us to broaden our reach via Amadeus’ extensive global network of travel agents who will now have immediate and complete access to our content to provide comprehensive travel options to their customers.”
David Brett, president of Amadeus Asia Pacific said his company is “fully committed” supporting Air Bagan and Myanmar’s travel industry. “The airline’s move towards GDS distribution, which gives them unparalleled access to travel agents globally, demonstrates the airline’s commitment to facilitating travel in this tourist hotspot,” he added.
Based in Yangon, Air Bagan offers domestic flights to 19 destinations as well as international flights to Chiang Mai, Thailand.
