Air France celebrates 50 years of Tahiti flights
Air France has marked 50 years of flight services to French Polynesia. In 1960, the European carrier, in association with the airline TAI, was granted the rights to operate between Tahiti, Honolulu and Los Angeles. This service was the precursor to the launch of Paris-Tahiti (via Los Angeles) services, which commenced in 1986 using a Boeing 747. Today, Air France offers four weekly flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and Tahiti, using an Airbus A340 or Boeing 777-200ER, with a stopover in LA.
