Air France joins Dreamliner club

Air France has become the latest airline to take delivery of Boeing’s newest long-haul aircraft, the B787 Dreamliner.
The twin-aisle aircraft, which becomes the 500th Dreamliner to roll off the Boeing production line, is becomes the ninth B787 delivered to the Air France-KLM group, following the eight already operated by Air France’s Dutch partner.
“It is with great pride and honour that Air France is taking delivery of its first Boeing 787,” said Jean-Marc Janaillac, CEO of Air France-KLM. “The Dreamliner marks a new stage in the modernisation of our fleet. It will offer customers the best of Air France’s products and services.”
Air France-KLM has ordered a total of 37 B787s, comprising 30 B787-9s and seven larger B787-10s. The aircraft delivered to Air France is a B787-9 with 276 seats in three cabins – 30 in business class, 21 in premium economy and 276 in economy. It will enter service in January 2017 on the Paris-Cairo route. A second Dreamliner will then be delivered in April 2017 and will be deployed on the Paris-Montreal route on 1 May 2017.
The fuel-efficient B787 series features the largest windows of any passenger aircraft, along with bigger overhead storage bins, LED lighting and improved cabin pressure.
