Air France KLM has appointed a new general manager for the UK & Ireland market.

Warner Rootliep has moved from the airline’s offices in Germany to take up the role.

He succeeds from Henri Hourcade, who has become vice president of sales for the group and will be based in Paris.

Rootliep started his career with KLM in 1990 and moved through a number of departments to become GM for Air France KLM and Northwest Airlines in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives in 2003. He joined the German office in 2008.

“I’m delighted to be taking on this role within Air France KLM UK and Ireland and thrilled about working with such a dynamic team. Over the last few years our group has made significant investment in its fleet and network, as well as secured ground breaking joint ventures and partnerships -particularly in the UK & Ireland – all of which are to the benefit of our customers,” said Rootliep.

The airline’s UK & Ireland team also now includes Nicolas Henin as commercial director for the region. Henin has been working in the group since 2000 and was director of pricing team for the joint venture between Air France KLM, Delta and Alitalia.

Gijs van Popta has also joined the UK team as head of sales, having worked at KLM since 2004.
