Air India expected to post US$1.2bn loss

Air India is expected to incur a loss of approximately INR54 billion (US$1.18 billion) for the 2009-10 financial year, India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, has said. According to a Hindustan Times report, Patel told parliament that this trend of losses would likely continue “for few more years”. The Indian national carrier posted losses of INR22.3 billion and INR55.5 billion in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 financial years respectively.
