AirAsia X will increase the number of flights it operates between Kuala Lumpur and the Gold Coast next month.
Effective 1 July 2016, the low-cost carrier will start operating 11 weekly flights to the Australian destination, up from seven per week at present.
The additional services will be operated using a 377-seat, two-class Airbus A330-300 aircraft, meaning that AirAsia X will provide an extra 78,000 seats per year into the Gold Coast.
“We are pleased to increase these services and provide additional flight options and convenience for our guests,” said AirAsia X’s CEO, Benyamin Ismail. “The four additional weekly services strengthen our long-standing relationship with Gold Coast Airport and also our successful strategy in developing under-served markets.”
The extra flights have been enabled by the recent delivery of two more A330-300 aircraft to AirAsia X, taking the airline’s total fleet size to 31 A330s. These are the final deliveries AirAsia X will take before the arrival of its new fleet of A330-900neos in 2018.
