Amadeus has posted an adjusted profit of EUR349.6 million for the six months up to 30 June, up 5.2% year-on-year.
The technology company saw its revenue increase 5.7% to EUR1.59bn while its earnings before taxes and other charges (EBITDA) was up 6.3% to EUR645.9m.
The company’s share of travel agency bookings moved up 1.7% to 40%, carrying a total of 284.1 million passengers. Its distribution and airline IT solution divisions are said to be pushing the growth in numbers. Revenue from its distribution business is up 5% while revenue from the IT side increased 8%.
“Today’s results underline our consistent success in anticipating and developing cost-effective technology that benefits our customers. Despite the sector’s considerable technological complexity and economic challenges, our innovation helps customers adapt and compete,” said Luis Maroto, president and CEO of Amadeus.
“Continued investment in product evolution and portfolio expansion was key to our growth record, attracting customers such as Munich and Copenhagen airports recently. Innovative bespoke offerings also drove retention, such as the new American Airlines deal,” he added.
Maroto said its research division had helped spot innovation in the market and helped drive sales forward. For the distribution sector the company sees “real opportunity” in merchandising and next-generation search, while for airlines tools are being expanded to include revenue management and loyalty.
