Amadeus has formed a partnership with AirPlus International for the creation of a new payment solution for travel agencies.
The Amadeus AirPlus Travel Agency Card is a new virtual system aimed at simplifying payments to travel suppliers. The card provides guaranteed global payment acceptance via two networks, UATP and MasterCard, enabling agency staff to generate a virtual credit card number during a booking process and use the number to complete the payment. The virtual credit card number is generated using AirPlus’ AIDA payment function, which has been integrated into Amadeus Selling Platform.
The tool will also enable travel agents to track and reconcile payments, thus saving time and reducing errors.
“The Amadeus AirPlus Travel Agency Card is the natural next step in our payments services business expansion, and it nicely complements our capability to provide end-to-end payment solutions to the travel industry,” said Francisco Pérez-Lozao, Amadeus’ senior vice president for new businesses.
“We are already providing such services to a number of companies worldwide, and this solution will allow us to enhance our value add portfolio.”
Conceived as a global solution, the Amadeus AirPlus Travel Agency Card will be gradually deployed across different countries and regions, starting in Europe.
