Minor Hotel Group has announced plans to expand its portfolio of Anantara resorts in Phuket.
Located at Layan Beach, on Phuket’s northwest coast, Bundarika Villas & Suites will be rebranded as the Anantara Phuket Layan Resort & Spa in 2013. The existing resort features 77 villas and suites on 400 metres of beach, and Minor has acquired five hectares of adjacent hillside land on which it plans to develop a new residential project.
The resort will also undergo a major refurbishment over the coming months. In total, Minor is investing a total of THB3 billion (US$95m) in the project.
“We are very excited to announce this new addition to Minor’s portfolio and what will become a second Anantara resort in Phuket. Bundarika offers guests an exclusive retreat and is ideal to be rebranded to an Anantara next year after renovation and an operational improvement programme,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of the Minor Hotel Group.
Anantara currently operates the Anantara Phuket Villas and is expecting to launch the Anantara Vacation Club Phuket by the end of 2012. Minor also owns the JW Marriott Phuket.
