Asia Pacific to see 10% more flights in May

This month’s analysis of the OAG (Official Airline Guide) schedules database indicates that airlines Worldwide will operate 4% more flights in May 2011, compared to the same month last year. In total 2,657,578 will be operated this month with an overall seat offering of 335,380,040 – an increase of 6% compared to May 2010.
The number of scheduled flights on routes to and from Asia Pacific has increased 10% to 64,208. Seat capacity will rise 9%. Once again, the double-digit rise in the number of flights to Asia Pacific marks the biggest increase of any global region, in line with the 10% year-on-year rise in flights to and from the Middle East. Within Asia Pacific there will be 39,736 more flights and 6,690,017 more seats than in May 2010 resulting in an increase of 7% in both flight operations and seat offerings.
