The body of Jennifer Laidley, 44, was found washed up on a Thai beach this morning.
The nurse from Sydney had been missing since Monday night after swimming on Karon Beach, Phuket. The body was formally identified this morning at Vachira Hospital after it was found washed up on the same beach, just a few hundred meters away from where she went missing three nights before.
Ms. Laidley’s travelling companion, Lisa Crosland, was with her on Monday evening and sounded the alarm. Speaking to ABC News, Ms. Crosland said the pair decided to take a spontaneous nighttime swim after dinner and a few drinks. The pair ignored signs warning against swimming due to strong rip current in the area. Ms. Laidley swam out beyond the break and was not seen again.
