Banyan Tree Group has started the year on a positive note, having picked up more than 18 awards and accolades since the start of 2011. These awards join the growing list of some 655 awards conferred onto Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts and Spas since its inception 17 years ago. The awards also reflect Banyan Tree’s global brand as the Group continues its expansion beyond Asia Pacific.
In China, Travel + Leisure named Banyan Tree Sanya and Banyan Tree Hangzhou the ‘Top Ten Luxury Hotel’ and ‘Best Newly-Open Hotel’ in China respectively. These two resorts continue to be favourites among Chinese travellers, with Banyan Tree Sanya voted as a ‘Star Performer’ amongst resorts in Sanya, on Hainan island in China’s Hurun Report’s ‘Best of the Best Awards 2011’. Banyan Tree Hangzhou was awarded ‘Best Landscape Design’ in Voyage magazine’s Hotel & Resort Best Value Awards. Relative newcomer Angsana Fuxian Lake also secured its position as ‘Best Romance Resort’ in the recent 2010 Best Value Brand Awards ceremony organised by Bosh Magazine, a lifestyle magazine in Yunnan.
The Banyan Tree Group currently operates six resorts in China and will be opening Banyan Tree Macau, Banyan Tree Riverside, Shanghai, Banyan Tree Tianjin and Angsana Hangzhou later this year.
Banyan Tree Mayakoba, located in the vibrant Riviera Maya, Mexico, has also been given the nod by travellers on TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2011, garnering a total of seven accolades. It has been named as one of the Top 25 Hotels in the World, as well as one of the most romantic hotels in the Caribbean and Mexico, and in the world. The resort also garnered significant recognition for being the most luxurious hotel and one of the top relaxation and spa hotels in the region and globally.
Meanwhile, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has been named second in British Airways High Life’s Top 5 Green Hotel Chains, which recognises the Group’s contributions and efforts in protecting the environment whilst operating its hotels and resorts around the world.
Finally on the spa front, the multi-award-winning Banyan Tree Spa once again affirmed its position as one of Asia’s leading spa operators after being awarded Best Spa Brand, for the fifth consecutive time, by the Hurun Report’s Best of the Best Awards 2011. Banyan Tree Spa Shanghai and Angsana Spa Hotel Nikko Shanghai also clinched the top spot as ‘Best Spa’ and ‘Best New Spa’ respectively, by Travel + Leisure China. In addition, despite having been in operation for only six months, Banyan Tree Spa Samui has been awarded the ‘Best Spa Center in the world’ by Russian travel publication, Afisha Mir.
