Sandals Resorts International (SRI) has signed a contract to build a new Beaches resort in Antigua.
The hotel group has signed a MoU with the Government of Antigua which will see its existing Grand Pineapple Resort on the island converted into the family brand Beaches.
Located in Long Bay, it will have one to four-bedroom rooms; up to 12 restaurants; confereing facilities; a waterpark; cinam, Xbox Play Lounge and BMX track.
“As a country, Antigua is very dear to our hearts because it was the first place we went when we ventured outside of Jamaica in 1991. This particular deal has been a long time coming – we’ve been discussing it for over three years – but it is well worth the wait,” said Sandal’s chairman Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart.
The resort will be the fifth Beaches resort after its fourth opens in Barbados next year. A launch date of the Antigua hotel is yet to be announced.
