Beirut airport sees more travellers

Passenger traffic at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport increased by four percent in the first three quarters of 2014 over last year, but volume of air freight suffered a 17% drop, reported the Directorate General for Civil Aviation.
As per statistics, slightly more than five million passengers went through Beirut airport in the first nine months of this year, compared with 4.82 million during the same period in 2013. The numbers of passengers who used the airport in August and September were estimated at 814,297 and 640,546 respectively, recording an increase of 12% and 19% respectively, compared with August and September 2013.
The directorate noted, however, that number of passengers transiting through Beirut Airport had dropped drastically by 46% from last year.
