The Datai Langkawi will embark on a major renovation next year.
In September 2017, the luxury resort will start to undertake its biggest overhaul since it opened 23 years ago, and the architect and interior designer responsible for the original designs in 1993 have been brought back to oversee the renovation work.
The project will tackle the resort’s rooms, suites and villas, landscaping and retail space. Major development work will include the construction of additional spa villas, a beachfront fitness centre and a nature centre. During the revamp, The Datai will close for approximately 10 months from 4 September 2017, and is scheduled to reopen in summer 2018.
“This renovation is a testament to the commitment of The Datai Langkawi to provide unmatched luxury accommodations, the highest level of service, and the modern amenities that appeal to today’s luxury global travellers,” said Arnaud Girodon, the resort’s general manager.
“Temporarily closing the resort will allow us to complete this refurbishment as quickly as possible and allow our guests to return to our island paradise in mid-2018.”
Set in a forest on Datai Bay, on the north coast of Langkawi, The Datai offers a total of 122 rooms, suites and villas.
