Boeing has revealed plans to help develop the ‘Skyview Panoramic Window’, which is billed as “the largest window available on any passenger jet”.
Developed by GKN Aerospace, the new window will measure approximately 1.4 metres by 0.5 metres. It is created by effectively joining three existing Boeing 737 windows together.
“With multiple potential locations based on the airplane type, it offers customers an unparalleled perspective of the world,” GKN Aerospace states.
Unfortunately the new window won’t be fitted on normal passenger jets – at least not yet. It is being made available as an optional feature of Boeing Business Jet’s BBJ MAX series, which is scheduled to enter service in 2018. But who knows, perhaps Boeing and other companies could start offering panoramic windows on regular flights in future.
