Beijing’s 300 year-old Summer Palace may become home to a more modern attraction, if a new plan to develop theme park in the area is approved. According to a Xinhua report, the plan involves new theme park and a culture square on the periphery of the palace grounds. It is not clear how large the project might be, or what theme it will take. First built in 1707, the Summer Palace and its grounds cover approximately 350 hectares in northwest Beijing.
