China Southern Airlines has announced its plan to launch flights from Guangzhou to San Francisco.
The latest trans-Pacific route was confirmed by China Southern at the Zhuhai Airshow, and will see the airline offer three weekly services to the Californian city, using a 228-seat Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Commencing on 16 December 2014, flights will depart Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1130, flying to San Francisco via Wuhan, the capital of central China’s Hubei province.
The return service will take off from San Francisco International Airport at 1255 on the same days, and will also feature a stop in Wuhan.
San Francisco will become the carrier’s fourth destination in North America, following Los Angeles, Vancouver and New York.
The route will also mark the first US connection for Wuhan. And to facilitate these services, China Southern will add an extra four weekly flights between Guangzhou and Wuhan in mid-2015.
