Capital Airlines, the fast-expanding Chinese carrier, is planning to launch its first ever flight to Russia in 2017.
The airline, which forms part of the HNA Group, has applied for permission to launch twice weekly flights from Hangzhou to St Petersburg, via Wuhan. If approved, the route will launch in February next year.
This will mark the latest phase in Capital Airlines’ long-haul strategy. Last year the airline made its debut in Europe, and later this month it will launch its maiden Australian flights, operating from Shenyang to Melbourne, via Qingdao. It also plans to fly to North America.
The airline will deploy its two-class 211-seat Airbus A330 aircraft on all new routes, configured with 33 seats in business class and 178 in economy.
