Cachet Hotel Group (CHG), which owns the eco-friendly URBN hotel brand, has signed a deal to open a second hotel in China.
Set to launch in Kunming in 2016, the new URBN Winart will form part of a mixed-use complex also including art studios, galleries, coffee shops, entertainment venues and restaurants.
And in keeping with this trendy area, the new six-storey URBN property will offer approximately 60 design-led rooms featuring purified air and beds made from 100% natural materials. The hotel will also feature a restaurant and spa.
Cachet said the hotel would target “the next generation of travellers with initiatives in art, creative and fashion”.
“Kunming has evolved to be the leading cultural and business destination in Yunnan province making it the ideal place to launch the award-winning URBN brand,” said Alexander Mirza, CEO of Cachet Hotel Group. “The Winart development fits our strategy of partnering with visionary developers to revitalise emerging neighbourhoods.”
The original URBN Hotel in Shanghai was designed as China’s first carbon-neutral hotel. Hong Kong-based Chachet took over the brand in 2013, and says it is now “focused on establishing outlets in Greater China, Southeast Asia and India.”
