India’s Minister of Tourism, Dr K Chiranjeevi will visit Australia next month to promote bilateral tourism.
Chiranjeevi has called on Ajit Singh, Minister for Civil Aviation to discuss the preparations and a joint campaign strategy, in the run up to the launch of Air India’s maiden Dreamliner flight from New Delhi to Sydney and Melbourne. The launch of Dreamliner service between India and Australia could further increase the tourist traffic between the two countries.
“Australia already ranks among the top 10 source destinations for in-bound tourists to India. The number of Australians visiting India has significantly risen in the last five years, from 135,925 in 2007 to 186,002 in 2011,” a PIB release quoted Chiranjeevi as saying.
Furthermore, both the Ministers are scheduled to travel on the Air India’s maiden flight to Australia. To effectively leverage the launch of these flights, the Ministry of Tourism will be organising road shows in Australia, with the participation of Air India and the travel and tourism industry to build on connectivity between two countries.
