CMX, a subsidiary of Cinemex, the sixth largest cinema chain in the world, will bring the VIP cinema experience to Mall of America in the fall of 2017. Opening on level 4, south, the 64,000-square-foot location will be the first CMX theater to open in the Midwest.
Complete with cutting-edge audio technology, CMX will offer moviegoers the ultimate upscale and relaxing experience with high-end décor, oversized reclining seats, Grab & Go gourmet dining options and an exceptional assortment of wines and handcrafted cocktails.
“Our theater in Mall of America, the most iconic shopping mall and one of the most visited tourist attractions in the U.S. is a prime location for CMX as we continue our aggressive and strategic U.S. development,” notes Jaime Rionda, CEO of CMX. “Our CMX cinema will provide moviegoers an exceptional entertainment experience with the latest technology, comfort and gourmet dining.
Construction will take approximately nine months to complete as the current theater space is completely overhauled to make way for a new design.
Redefining the cinema experience
With a total of 1,104 seats throughout 14 rooms, the CMX cinema will feature the finest audiovisual technology. The theater will have a premium large-format (PLF) room. This PLF room will include an extra-large movie screen and a premium sound system to enhance the audience experience.
All rooms will feature oversized full recliners with a swivel table. Each chair will also include a dim LED light and convenient storage compartments for purses and shopping bags. Guests who wish to order food or movie tickets in advance can do so with the CMX app, available for iOS and Android.
“Our guests will be pleasantly surprised by the CMX cinema – it will exceed all of their expectations,” said Jill Renslow, SVP of Marketing and Business Development at Mall of America. “We always strive to offer the latest, most innovative concepts to our guests at MOA and CMX is unlike anything currently offered in the market.”
Gourmet dining and masterful mixology
Moviegoers will have a range of Grab & Go gourmet dining options created by a top chef. An assortment of wines and handcrafted cocktails made to order by an on-site mixologist will also be available.
