A giant arch topped by a gold statue of Turkmenistan’s late leader, Saparmyrat Niyazov, is to be moved from the centre of the capital, Ashgabat, according to a BBC report. The statue, which tops the 75-metre arch, was designed to rotate towards the sun, and was one example of the personality cult established by the late ruler.
