Delta Air Lines is rolling out in-flight Wi-Fi services across its fleet of Boeing 747-400s.
Three of the airline’s 16 B747s have so far been equipped with the service, allowing passengers on routes to Tokyo, Seoul, Nagoya and Tel Aviv to access the internet while flying. Using the Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi service, full-flight rates for laptop users start at US$24.95, while mobile devices can connect for US$14.95.
“Our customers want to remain productive in-flight and that does not stop as they fly over US borders,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s senior vice president of marketing. “Expanding Delta’s Wi-Fi services internationally is another benefit of the investments we are making to improve the travel experience, and give our customers exactly what they want.”
All of Delta’s B747-400 aircraft will have Wi-Fi installed by mid-2014. This forms part of a major roll-out of in-flight connectivity across the airline’s fleet. All international aircraft, including B777s, B767 and Airbus A330s, will be equipped with Wi-Fi by the end of 2015.
