A man has been arrested at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport carrying two sculptures modelled out of crystal methamphetamine. According to AP reports, Thai customs authorities became suspicious as the Iranian man casually wandered through the airport with two plaque-shaped sculptures. On closer inspection the artworks were found to have been pressed and molded from the illegal stimulant. One 10kg sculpture was the image of a yellow rose, while another 5kg piece looked like a framed cameo. The ‘artworks’ were reported to have a street value of more than THB50 million (US$1.7 million).
Customs official, Vorapat Jaovisidha said it was the first time his agency had seen this method of smuggling.
