Emirates will resume its Airbus A380 services to Tokyo in March 2017, increasing seat capacity on the route by 38%.
Effective 26 March, the airline will start operating the 489-seat, three-class version of its A380 on the daily Dubai-Tokyo Narita route, in place of the 354-seat Boeing 777-300ER. This deployment will coincide with the launch of Emirates’ A380 services between Dubai and Casablanca, as the airline continues to expand its global superjumbo network.
Emirates is the world’s largest A380 operator, accounting for more than 40% of all aircraft currently in service and the vast majority of future deliveries. The A380 is the world’s largest passenger aircraft.
The new A380 service will depart Dubai every day at 0240 and arrive at Narita Airport at 1735. The return flights will then leave the Tokyo hub at either 2120 or 2200, arriving back in Dubai at 0335 or 0415 the next morning.
The A380 being used on the Tokyo route will feature 14 flat-bed seats in first class, 76 in business class and 399 seats in economy.
“Trade between Japan and UAE has developed significantly since Emirates started services to Japan in 2002. Demand for transportation of passengers and cargo via Dubai remains high. The Emirates A380 service from Narita will provide both leisure and business travellers with ideal connectivity to destinations in the Middle East, South America, Europe, Africa and the Indian Ocean,” Emirates said in a statement.
Narita will join more than 40 destinations in Emirates’ global A380 network. The most recent addition was Moscow, and A380 flights to Johannesburg will commence prior to the launch of the Narita and Casablanca services.
Other East Asian destinations served by Emirates’ A380s include Bangkok, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and Taipei.
