In a first of its kind, Emirates will launch three A380 routes in three days. The airline will boost capacities on sectors such as San Francisco, Milan and Houston. The three flights will have travelled 61,784 kilometres to and from Dubai.
The launch of these flights will take the Emirates’ A380 route network to a total 33 destinations.
“We now have 55 A380s in our fleet, one third of all A380s currently in the skies. Having the ability to launch three new A380 destinations in three days is no small feat. It requires careful planning, multi-department coordination, airport preparedness and above all tenacity to make it happen,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates divisional senior vice president, commercial operations West.
In the last year, Emirates has launched the A380 across destinations such as Mumbai, Frankfurt, Dallas and Kuwait. Glasgow, Manila, Tehran and Vienna have also seen the Emirates A380 touchdown for a one off showcase in 2014. The carrier has flown over 32 million passengers in these aircraft.
