Ethiopian Airlines has launched a new flight to Shanghai using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The new direct service from Addis Ababa commenced on 29 March 2014 and will now operate daily to Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport. All flights will be operated using a 270-seat Dreamliner, featuring 24 seats business class and 246 in economy.
“We are very proud of our continuous service to China for over 40 years,” said the airline’s CEO, Tewolde Gebremariam. “Ethiopian was one of only four international airlines to operate to the country back in 1973. Today, with 28 weekly direct flights operated with latest technology airplanes… we offer the best connectivity from four major cities in China to 48 cities in Africa.”
The new service will depart Addis Ababa every day at 2330, arriving at Pudong Airport at 1515 the following day. The return service then leaves Shanghai at 0035, getting back into the Ethiopian capital at 0655.
Shanghai will be Ethiopian’s 80th international destination and its fourth in China following Guangzhou, Beijing and Hong Kong.
