Etihad Airways has doubled the number of flights it offers to Mumbai and New Delhi.
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier will now offer twice daily services to both Indian cities, following the addition of new mid-afternoon flights operated using Etihad’s 136-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
Meanwhile, the evening services on both routes have been upgraded to wide-body jets, with the Mumbai flight served using a 292-seat A340 aircraft and the Delhi flights operated with a 254-seat A330.
Jet Airways will codeshare on both the new services.
“India is a significant and growing market for us. These increases enable us to serve not only the local traffic demands between Abu Dhabi and India, but also to deliver much greater international connectivity for business and leisure guests,” said Etihad’s president & CEO, James Hogan,
“Travellers from India will have more opportunities to connect with flights to destinations including Abu Dhabi, the GCC, Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America, while those flying to India will benefit from additional seats and more schedule options, providing greater travel flexibility.”
The extra flight and aircraft change will take Etihad’s total capacity on Mumbai and Delhi routes to 2,996 and 2,730 weekly seats respectively – approximately triple the previous capacity.
