Etihad Airways has signed a codeshare agreement with Air New Zealand (ANZ). The deal will connect ANZ to the Middle East for the first time, as it will place its code on Etihad’s services between Abu Dhabi and Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Its code will also be used on the Abu Dhabi-Heathrow route. Meanwhile, Etihad’s codeshare will cover ANZ’s domestic services onto and between Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown and Rotorua. “This opens up five key destinations in New Zealand that we have been eager to offer to our customers for a long time and we are certain the connections and seamless flight experience offered by Etihad and Air New Zealand will appeal to business and leisure travellers,” said James Hogan, CEO of Etihad Airways. As part of the agreement, the two airlines will integrate their frequent flyer programmes.
