Etihad Airways will launch its first direct flights to Hong Kong next year.

Commencing on 15 June 2015, the long-awaited new service will operate four times a week, direct from Abu Dhabi.

The outbound night flight will depart the UAE capital every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 2140, arriving into Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) at 0940 the next morning. The return leg will then leave HKIA at 1920, arriving back into Abu Dhabi International Airport at 2350.

All flights will be operated using a two-class, 262-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft with 22 seats in business class and 240 in economy.
The new service will operate alongside the existing three weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong offered by Etihad’s partner, Air Seychelles, allowing the two carriers to offer a combined daily service on the route, with a total of 3,620 weekly seats.

“Hong Kong is an exciting and significant addition to our global network. The new services will offer our guests from Hong Kong and nearby southern China increased travel options and enhanced connections over our Abu Dhabi hub to 34 business and leisure destinations across the Gulf region, Europe and Africa,” said James Hogan, president & CEO of Etihad.

“The new flights will support trade ties between the UAE and China, the UAE’s second largest trading partner,” he added.

Hong Kong will become Etihad’s fourth destination in China, following Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai.

The new route also forms part of a major expansion plan for Etihad. In addition to Hong Kong, the UAE national carrier has also unveiled plans to launch five other routes for the first half of 2015, including Kolkata, Madrid, Entebbe, Edinburgh and Algiers.
