Etihad Airways has launched a new direct service between Abu Dhabi and Los Angeles.
Flights will operate daily, initially using a three-class, 240-seat Airbus A340-500 aircraft. But from mid-July the route will be upgraded to Etihad’s new Boeing 777-aircraft, which will be configured with 237 seats, including eight in first class suites, 40 in business class and 189 in economy.
Flights will operate to and from LAX’s brand new Tom Bradley International Terminal.
“Los Angeles is one of the world’s premier travel destinations and iconic cities and we are delighted that today it becomes part of the Etihad Airways global network,” said James Hogan, Etihad’s president & CEO.
“The greater Los Angeles area has a diverse population of more than 18 million people, the second largest in the US, who can now access direct flights to Abu Dhabi and beyond into the Middle East and Indian sub-continent.”
Los Angeles becomes Etihad fourth destination in the US, following Chicago, New York and Washington DC. But this will increase later this year with the start of direct services between Abu Dhabi and Dallas-Fort Worth Airport in December.
