Fairmont signs management deal in KSA

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Business Gate have signed an agreement for Fairmont to manage a new 287-room luxury hotel and 4,000 square metre convention centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.Scheduled to open in late-2012, Fairmont Riyadh, Business Gate will be located just north of the city, and will form part of a new mixed-use development project comprising the hotel, a convention centre and commercial real estate space that will house multinational corporations as well as regional companies. The destination is a growing business area, with a number of new developments including the King Abdullah Financial District, Princess Nora University and Hospital, Riyadh Technology Park and Financial District, all projected to open over the next few years.The hotel will feature 287 guestrooms, including Fairmont Gold, a selection of dining venues as well as spa and fitness facilities. The convention centre comprises 4,000 square metres/ 39,500 square foot of meeting and function space including two main ballrooms offering 1,500 square meters each. In addition, groups will have access to a number of smaller conference and board rooms, some with private break-out spaces.”Riyadh is currently undergoing tremendous development, becoming a key financial and business destination for not only Saudia Arabia, but the Middle East,” said Chris Cahill, President, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. “The influx of both public and private investment is creating a great opportunity for business and leisure travel, and Fairmont Riyadh, Business Gate will be an exciting addition to our own brand’s growth in the region.”
