Fiji Airways and Hong Kong rugby teams have donated 16 boxes (160kgs) of rugby kit from Hong Kong to Fiji.
USRC Tigers, Flying Kukris, the Kowloon RFC and Hong Kong Scottish sent the first consignment from HK last week and was received by the Fiji Red Cross. Then next batch (also 160kgs) is due to depart in the coming weeks.
Ben Ryan, ex Fiji 7’s coach and newly crowned village chief helped to receive the donations when he was recently in Hong Kong. The brand new kit comprising shorts, jerseys, socks, boots, balls and bags will be sent to rugby-loving children in remote villages in Fiji.
Hong Kong’s rugby community regularly donates to the underprivileged around the region with programmes in Samoa, Cambodia, Laos, and the Philippines.
With so many organisations involved, everyone has high hopes for these donations to make a difference and inspire the next crop of Fijian rugby sevens players.
