Fiji Airways has revealed that its regional subsidiary, Pacific Sun, will be rebranded as ‘Fiji Link’ in 2014.

Following the renaming of Air Pacific as Fiji Airways earlier this year, the airline’s brand restructuring will continue next year with the overhaul of Pacific Sun, which operates inter-island flights within Fiji and to neighbouring countries including Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

Along with the new name, Pacific Sun’s aircraft will receive a new livery, based on Fiji Airways’ brand colours and design.

“Pacific Sun hasn’t had a brand alignment with its commercial position since its inception. Following the rebranding of Fiji Airways, we made it a priority to create a new identity for our regional carrier,” said Fiji Airways’ managing director & CEO, Stefan Pichler.

“Fiji Link will fulfil its role as an extension of the Fiji Airways network, carrying our customers throughout Fiji and beyond within the Pacific. Importantly, it will deliver all the Fijian hospitality and warmth customers expect when visiting our region,” he added.

The name ‘Fiji Link’ was selected following a vote involving members of the public and staff at both Pacific Sun and Fiji Airways. And Shaenaz Voss, Pacific Sun’s general manager, said there was a “clear preference” for the new name.

“Fiji Link is an appropriate name for our airline and like its parent Fiji Airways, Fiji Link will fly the Fijian flag wherever it flies. As an important part of our regional network, the airline will embody Fiji’s position as a hub and gateway to the South Pacific,” Voss said.

The new brand will be adopted in mid-2014 after the arrival of Pacific Sun’s new ATR72 aircraft. Like Fiji Airways’ new Airbus A330-200 aircraft, the new ATRs will feature the white, brown and black livery and traditional Fijian ‘Teteva’ and ‘Makare’ motifs.

Further details of the rebranding process are expected to be announced in the coming months.
