Flight Centre to open second HK travel shop
Flight Centre has announced plans to open its second travel shop in Hong Kong.
Following the March 2012 launch of the Central store, the leisure travel agency is now planning to double its presence in the city with the launch of a new bricks and mortar store in Happy Valley on 28 May.
“Both shops are destined for long-term success because they are the first in Hong Kong to fill an untapped niche of expatriate leisure travel,” said Flight Centre China’s General Manager, David Fraser. “Our client base is 70% expatriates and 30% local travellers, which shows how important it is to have a travel service specifically geared to the expat market.
“These clients are drawn to Flight Centre because we have travel consultants who are also expatriates and fully understand their travel needs. Our consultants are very knowledgeable and passionate about travelling and provide a complete service,” he added.
Like the Central store, the new Happy Valley outlet will handle air bookings, tours and packages, cruises and more complex itineraries. It will be staffed by multi-lingual travel consultants. The company also revealed that it plans to add several new stores in Hong Kong in the near future.
“Flight Centre is geared for rapid expansion. Our plan is to open two to three more retail stores in Hong Kong this year and to increase our sales force from 20 to 50 people in 2013,” Fraser said.
Flight Centre has operated a call centre in Hong Kong since 2009.
