A report commissioned by Amadeus Hospitality Solutions has revealed the four key growth drivers that will shape the future of the hotel industryInvent the future: the new normal for hotels in 2010 and beyond argues it will not be business as usual following the global economic slowdown and that hotels need to fundamentally assess how they do business and capitalise on opportunities for growth in ‘the new normal’. Report author John Burns, President of Hospitality Technology Consulting, identified the four key growth drivers as guest experience, globalisation, brand value and agility and speed to market (see box below for full details).”2010 will not see a return to business as usual,” said Burns.”We are entering a ‘new normal’ following the structural changes of the last 10 years and the financial upheaval of the last eighteen months. “This requires hotels to fundamentally assess their commercial strategy and consider all aspects of their business afresh.”He added: “The dramatic convergence of market trends, structural changes in the sector and technology developments offer hotels the opportunity to reinvent how they do business. The hotels which will thrive in this new era will be those that demonstrate both business and technology agility.” Amadeus Director of Hotel IT J
