Garuda Indonesia has started equipping its long-haul aircraft with a new business class seat.
The ‘Super Diamond Seat’ will be rolled out on the airline’s new Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, offering 24 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration on the A330s and 26 seats in the same layout on the B777s. This will ensure that all business class passengers have direct aisle access.
The new seats come equipped with Panasonic Ex3 in-flight entertainment systems with 16-inch LCD touch-screen monitors, two USB ports, a power outlet, reading light and mini-bar. The seats recline to form 208cm long, 61cm wide fully-flat beds.
The new seats have initially been rolled out on the first of four new A330-300s Garuda expects to receive in 2016, and on its 10th B777.

“The arrival of these new aircraft is a part of Garuda’s commitment to present a modernised fleet with the best service, in line with its business network expansion programme in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Europe region,” explained Arif Wibowo, president & CEO of Garuda. “These new additions in Garuda’s fleet are hoped to offer more value to all of Garuda’s customers, particularly the Super Diamond Seat business class.”
In addition to the new business class seat, Garuda has upgraded its long-haul economy class cabins with 11-inch touch-screen IFE monitors, USB ports, power outlets, and seats that recline 10cm.
As part of its fleet renewal programme, Garuda expects to receive 16 new aircraft in total: one B777-300ER, four A330-300s, four ATR 72-600s and eight A320s to be operated by Citilink. This will boost the group’s total fleet size to 188 aircraft by the end of the year, 144 for Garuda and 44 for Citilink.
