9 Air, the Guangzhou-based low-cost carrier, will launch its first ever international flights next year.
Speaking at the third China Low-Cost Carriers Summit in Shanghai last week, the airline’s CEO, Ji Guangping, said that 9 Air will initially launch scheduled flights to destinations Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea. The exact destinations and launch dates were not revealed.
9 Air launched its inaugural flight in December 2014 and currently operates 16 domestic routes to major Chinese cities including Harbin, Nanjing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Haikou and Changchun, using a fleet of nine 189-seat all-economy Boeing 737 aircraft.
It is a subsidiary of Juneyao Airlines, the Shanghai-based carrier which recently partnered the Star Alliance.
