Manama, Bahrain, 18 January 2010: Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has launched Web Check-in and advanced seat selection as part of its continuous efforts to enhance the travelling experience of its passengers.
Gulf Air passengers flying from Bahrain can now check in online at gulfair.com by selecting the “Check-in” tab on the homepage 24 hours in advance and up to 90 minutes before the scheduled departure of their Gulf Air flight. They can also choose a seat of their choice using the online interactive seat map, change their seat, and print their boarding pass before arriving at the airport. This is particularly beneficial to passengers travelling with no baggage, as they can proceed directly to the boarding gate through airport security. For passengers with check-in baggage, dedicated ‘Web Check-in Baggage drop’ counters are available at the airport. The Gulf Air Web Check-in service also allows customers to check in additional passengers travelling with them on the same flight, making those hectic and, often stressful, family or group airport check-in processes a thing of the past.
The Web Check-in service is currently available for departures from Bahrain and will be rolled out across the rest of the Gulf Air network over the coming weeks. Initially launched in English, the service will also be available in Arabic from April onwards.
Gulf Air CEO Samer Majali said: “Web Check-in is an important addition to the Gulf Air travel experience we offer our customers and we are prioritising rolling out the service across our network as quickly as possible. As we celebrate the airline’s 60th anniversary this year and look ahead to the next 60, we will continue to live-up to our pioneering legacy and work hard to improve the our customers experience with the introduction of even more exciting and innovative products that meet our customer’s needs as well as deliver value.”
Gulf Air Chief Commercial Officer Kyle Haywood said: “We are very excited about this new service. Gulf Air’s Web Check-in promises to reduce the time passengers spend at the airport, adding to our credentials as offering the fastest and the most efficient hub in the region. We are also delighted to be adding to our ‘family friendly airline’ status with this service that allows one passenger to check in travelling companions online at the same time.
