Gulf Air Toastmasters Club takes off

Manama, Bahrain 09 February, 2010: Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain launched its own Toastmasters Club. The first meeting of the Club was inaugurated by Mr. Ahmed Al Banna, Director of Human Resources recently.
“Toastmaster Club is a great initiative to help our employees develop not only their communication skills but it also encourages them to bring out their potential and become better speakers, listeners, thinkers and leaders,” Mr. Al Banna said.
“Every employee can benefit from the activities of the Club, which include interactive discussions, training sessions on formal speech preparation, technical presentation styles, impromptu table topics, storytelling and interpersonal communication in general” added Mr. Al Banna.
There are over 50 Toastmasters Clubs in Bahrain currently falling under two divisions, Division C and Division K. The Gulf Air Toastmasters Club, which comes under Division K - District 79 was formed under the guidance of Bahrain’s wellknown Toastmaster Jose Thomas and Division K Governor, Alex Ginete.
“The Gulf Air Toastmaster Club will be a welcome change for colleagues as they can learn the art of communication from an international perspective from the collective knowledge of other club members with whom we will be interacting on a regular basis,” said Mrs. Sohair Khalfan, Gulf Air Head of Corporate Training and Employee Development and the President of the Gulf Air Toastmasters Club.
“This is a great opportunity for our staff members to equip themselves with necessary skills that will have a positive impact on their social and professional life.”
