Hainan Airlines took delivery of its third Boeing 787 Dreamliner this week, and will deploy it to the city of Changsha.
The new twin-aisle aircraft touched down at Beijing Capital International Airport on 2 October 2013 and was immediately put into service on domestic routes to Hangzhou, Sanya, Chengdu, to handle the sharp rise in passenger traffic during China’s Golden Week holidays.
Next week however, the new Dreamliner will be deployed on another domestic route, connecting Beijing with Changsha, the capital of Hunan province. The daily flight will depart the Chinese capital at 0820, arriving at Changsha’s Huanghua International Airport at 1045. The return service will leave Changsha at 1145, getting back into Beijing at 1410.
At present, Hainan Airlines operates three daily flights between Beijing and Changsha, with the remaining two operated using a single-aisle B737-800.
Hainan Airlines has ordered 10 B787s, configured in a two-class layout with 36 seats in business class and 179 in economy. It currently operates the aircraft on domestic routes, but plans to deploy them on long-haul routes to North America in future.
