Hainan Airlines is planning to order 30 more Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
The airline said in a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange this week that it will select the larger B787-9 model, to complement its existing fleet of B787-8s. The order would be valued at US$7.7 billion at current list prices.
Hainan Airlines took delivery of its first Dreamliner in July 2013 and now operates eight of the twin-aisle jets, with outstanding orders for a further four.
The Chinese carrier has mainly used the fuel-efficient jets to expand its trans-Pacific routes to the US, including routes to Boston, Chicago and Seattle.
Meanwhile, Hainan Airlines has also received permission to launch flights to Prague. Direct services from Beijing to the Czech capital will operate three times a week from 1 October 2015.
