The popular Chinese tourist destination of Hangzhou will welcome the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for the first time this week.
Effective 27 September 2013, Hainan Airlines will deploy the Dreamliner on one of its scheduled daily services between Beijing and Hangzhou. Currently the airline operates the route three times a day, with services departing Beijing’s Capital International Airport at 0725, 0835 and 1705, returning from Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan International Airport at 1140, 1605 and 2015. Two of the flights use a single-aisle
Boeing 737-800 aircraft while the third features a wide-body Airbus A330. But from Friday, the airline’s 215-seat, twin-aisle Dreamliner will be deployed on the 0835 departure from Beijing.
Hangzhou, in eastern China’s Zhejiang province, is home to West Lake – a UNESCO World Heritage area comprising lakes, gardens and pagodas, and one of the most popular tourist destinations in China.
Hainan Airlines currently operates a fleet of two B787 Dreamliners on routes from Beijing to Haikou, Shanghai and Chengdu. But the airline expects to receive eight more B787s in the coming months, and will use the aircraft to launch new trans-Pacific services to destinations in the US and Canada.
The B787-8s come equipped with 215 seats in two classes – 36 in business class and 179 in economy.
