Hawaiian receives seventh new A330
Hawaiian Airlines’ fleet renewal strategy has continued with the arrival of its seventh new Airbus A330-200.
The new twin-aisle aircraft arrived in Honolulu last weekend following a flight from Airbus’ factory in Toulouse, via Los Angeles.
Hawaiian now plans to use the 294-seat A330 primarily for its daily direct service between Sydney. This will mark a capacity increase of 30 seats per sector compared to the 264-seat Boeing 767-300ER previously operated on the route.
The new aircraft, named ‘Heiheionakeiki’, is the second of four new A330s to join Hawaiian’s fleet this year, with the remaining two being delivered in May and June. In total, the airline will operate a fleet of nine A330s by year-end, with a further 13 to be added between 2013 and 2015.
As well as the Sydney route, the new A330s will operate on non-stop routes between Hawaii and destinations in North America and East Asia.
