Hilton has launched its DoubleTree brand in a city close to China’s Three Gorges Dam.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Chongqing-Wanzhou is a new 22-storey hotel developed by the Dalian Wanda Group. It becomes the first international full-service hotel in Wanzhou, which is located on the Yangtze River, on the upper reaches of the Three Gorges.
“The opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Chongqing-Wanzhou is a pivotal moment in the tremendous growth and development of Wanzhou City, which is a vital hub of the Chongqing Municipality,” said Bruce McKenzie, Hilton’s senior vice president of operations for Greater China & Mongolia. “This hotel reinforces the continued growth of Hilton Worldwide and the further developmental success of the DoubleTree by Hilton brand throughout China.”
Located close to the Yangtze, the new hotel features 253 rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river and mountains.
The hotel will feature more than 1,700m² of conference and banqueting space – the largest in Wanzhou – including a 1,100m² ballroom and five meeting rooms.
There are also three restaurants, including a Chinese outlet with seven private dining rooms overlooking the river. Other facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam rooms, jacuzzi, 24-hour fitness centre and a beauty salon.
“At DoubleTree by Hilton, we know the little things mean everything when it comes to a great travel experience, and we are excited to deliver this experience to guests in Wanzhou for the first time ever,” said John Greenleaf, global head of DoubleTree by Hilton. “We are eager to welcome travelers visiting the heart of the Three Gorges area, and deliver the unparalleled service for which the DoubleTree by Hilton brand is known – starting with the brand’s signature warm chocolate chip cookie welcome.”
